I held out as long as I could, but given the events of the last few days I had to cancel my family's annual spring break trip to South Carolina. We were scheduled to leave the end of next week.

We stay on the beach south of Charleston for a week, and I go metal detecting 2 or 3 days with some friends while my wife and son (he's 11 and still figuring out if he likes metal detecting or not) hang out at the beach and do their thing. Sometimes he comes along, but he's only good for a couple hours.

Of course we're all bummed... but we're talking about taking a longer vacation there toward the end of summer, but the heat and humidity may have us go instead for a week in the fall or maybe even do a Christmas trip. In the meantime I guess I have to be content with watching you tube videos of people detecting in the low country.

Stay safe my friends. Keep your TP stocked up, your powder dry, and know this too shall pass.

It’s all the pits. But good call on the cancellation.

I do feel for you. Had to cancel my much anticipated trip to the Garrett Hunt in Canton, Texas. That hurt. Now will be cancelling my trip to the Florida treasure coast for late April. It makes me say words that are not pleasant.

But, what else can you do? Sincerely hope our world gets better, and soon.

Many people and businesses will not survive this tragedy that we have upon us. The personal and financial hardships, will be beyond comprehension in so many ways.

Good luck to all.

Dylan concert got cancelled in Osaka.
I was bummed big time.
Had two tickets and was bringing my 18 year old son along.
but got a 380 dollar roll burning a hole in my pocket from the refund.

I can think of lots of detecting related things that would eat up that $380 pretty quickly. :)

Due to current conditions, I quarantined myself in a desolate soybean field for about 5 hours yesterday.

A few buttons, 1 nice bullet and a lot of self isolation. Even the cars going by on the highway were at least 100 yards from me. Nice day.

My detecting season is shot.

Same here, I had to cancel my trip to due to the outbreak, this really sucks.

Ticks shut me down for the season . lots of Lyme cases in this region every year and all we have is woods, no open space to hunt.
But it was a good season overall and I will live the dream through Treasure Net until cold weather returns.
Be safe and live to hunt another day..

WHY WAIT ?

You should have left days ago.

Sheesh

Furthermore... have you ever considered that IF you get sick in SC you will be taking resources from that state... IN WHICH you have payed ZERO taxes in other than small sales taxes.

You will clog up THEIR health sytem by being there.

Has this not even crossed your mind... let alone your conscience ? ? ?

AND IF you get sick and just carry it... you will be caring BACK to where you are from.

You silly "trip" is of no one in SC's concern now.

Not to be rude... just blunt.

THINK.

Sheesh time to GO HOME !

There's still plenty of places to detect in Clinton county MI

I'm continuing on with my life like usual. Keeping my head in the sand wont stop the inevitable and I'm not concerned at my age.

that's a great attitude to have for yourself, but maybe someone else' kid or grand parent might not share it, or even care what you do to yourself. I know I don't.

My only problem lies with your possible sharing it with others which apparently doesn't matter to you.

Maybe look at it this way. Your wife/child/parent or yourself gets the disease because one of them touched a gas pump/candy wrapper/or something the virus was on and it spread to your household. They all die except for you. Do you blame the idiot that went out in public because said idiot was going to live their lives like they always did or your family that was going to do the same? Or chalk it up to life and move on?

serious question, please serious answer

I was looking forward to the Garrett as well, and a few others I was planning on attending were canceled too. Guess its back to local hunting.

Again, we didn’t go for the very reasons you stated. We never left Michigan. To be blunt we already THOUGHT and perhaps you should seek clarification before making accusatory and sanctimonious posts to random forum members.

Serious reply: that’s the whole point. We never went. Apparently folks are reading this like we were already there. That’s not the case and that’s not what l said or meant to imply. We didn’t go for exactly the reasons you stated. Thanks for lecture though. I hope you feel better now.

There sure are but there is much less likelihood of finding civil war relics. 😉

I did get out for a couple hours yesterday but my headphones were acting up. I found an old button back and lots of iron. I’ll hit that spot again after I troubleshoot my headphones.
