Didn’t find much tonight, the highlight was this brass garden nozzle for me. I took it home and cleaned the dirt from it and tested it out and wow! Thing shoots water like 20 feet. Anyone have an idea as to how old this thing is? The silver plated butter knife? Reads: Simeon L& George M. Rogers company with a Xtra symbol. I believe it’s from the 20s. The wheats are a 1952,1941, and I think a 1914.

I don't know about the nozzle but that attractive knife is the S.L. & G.H. Rogers pattern know as "Encore", which dates from 1932. it may be a fish knife rather than a butter knife.

I think they still make them actually though they are now probably sadly made in C-H-I-N-A. I found one in a guy's yard, washed it out and tested it and mine still worked too! I gave it back to the landowner and he was thankful for it. Those are good nozzles!

Yes your knife appears to be a fish knife and not a butter knife.

I have / use several found.,, still work great with a new rubber grommet.

I found a similar one a long time ago that was marked Boston on the base of it. I think it was vintage 1950s

Nice!!! Congrats!!! You know almost every one of those I've found, I've gotten to work:) You can get a new seal at any hardware store for where the hose connection is.

Looks like it could be from the 60's 70's. The ones I have found in yards, when cleaned up, work better than today's plastic garbage. The Brass nozzles, are what we had when I was growing up.

Yeah , these were made so solidly , that they survive in the ground, and almost always work great with a new washer , maybe a little WD40..

I need to dig one of those cause my current nozzles are crap

Everyone had that nozzle when I was a kid

We had them when I was a kid in the 60's.

The oldest ones I have found are patented 1877 and 1903ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1607081572.650209.webp Both came from when brick streets were being taken up and replaced

Amazing how much this thread on finding a spray nozzle gets attention. :)

Think we all can say we love those nozzles.

Wow, That's like the second find I ever found in 1984 when I started.. Think I may still have it some place.

Brass nozzle detecting finds are very useful. I use the one I found and set aside my cheaper, modern one.
