Some "Best Finds" from the Louisiana History Museum.

Sitting at my computer Saturday afternoon, It occurred to me that some of you would enjoy some finds from the Louisiana History Museum. It might help you in recognising treasures when you are hitting yard sales , etc. I'll tell you what these photo's are and post a few more and if you would like to see more let me know. Any questions, I'll answer them also. Picture two: Several Louisiana tribe, native American pine straw baskets. Woven from pine needles. a fan made from feathers. A child's leather beaded shoe or moccasin and in the back right a spanish moss baby doll. This was the Barbie Doll of the early 1800's. Yes, River Rat, your guess was right.

Hiya DG,

Fantastic idea!! I would like to see more & am sure others will too. I can read what's in the 1st pic...I'm sure the 2nd pic is Indian baskets, but the dark thing on the right, far back I'm curious...to me it looks like a doll made with moss ???

Here is another: Iron pots and tools for fireplace cooking. A iron that is heated in the fireplace to iron clothes.

Re: Some "Best Finds" from the Louisiana History Museum.

Early medicine bottles used by doctors and early drug stores. The labels are between a double layer of glass so they do not age. Some look the same as they were made in the early 1900's

And of course a deluxe model early hearing aid on the right. We can look in your ears or nose with the box on the left. Yes that is a early hypodermic needle in the middle.
