Here are today's finds. The Indian Head is 1891. Also a button back without a front. :BangHead:

A part of a bullet casing, not sure on how old, but it doesn't look like the typical newer stuff I find.

A brush of some sort. A bell or button? And some sort of clip? :icon_scratch:

If y'all know any more about these, let me know. :icon_thumleft:

And a bunch of HOI (not pictured)...

The partial bullet casing is a rimfire cartridge which unless it's very small diameter like 1/4 inch it is very old you can search large caliber rimfire cartridges and tell approx. Age

What you are calling a "brush" is, i think, a straightening comb used by African Americans to straighten and press the hair. Old ones were heated on the regular wood cook stove and sometimes have twirled metal handles, like lid-lifters do.

Later ones were heated over a special little kerosene mini-stove and the handles are usually black-painted wood. Yours may have been that, with the wood rotted away. Straightening combs are still made and used. Here is a modern one, for sale in 2019:

Great idea , & look for a head stamp on it's bottom & IMO , If there is not a mark that a pretty good thing.
