I've been cleaning this for a while it was just a rusty crusty ball when I found it maybe it's just a really decorative hook of some kind I don't know hoping you know

It is smith made, first with a small eye then remade with a larger eye. I would say that it may have been a gate latch then turned into a line or rope hook.
