Among these are a porcelain dolls head, mustache cup and straight razor, 2 children's jacks, a small Maddock-England bowl circa 1842-1855, some buttons, glass bottle stoppers, etc.

Wowza time to pull that whole floor up do some excavating then drop in a nice new floor Well done!!!!!!!

I wish I had a crawl space to explore so close to home.....I love the doll head.

That is another fascinating and sentimental group of finds!

It would be interesting if you could replace the current flooring of your dining room with glass or lucite panels. That way your family and visitors could stare down at the detritus of yesteryear in the soil, and contemplate the passing of time and our mortality as they eat their supper. That would be a very novel way to enjoy the history.

That is so cool!!!!!!!

Wow ! That is a honey hole for sure ! Are you able to detect down there at all ? There likely are some coins in there too !

Pretty darn cool!

That is just nuts ! What an adventure in its own. I think when you have all the surface items removed, I would start filling small buckets with the top 3 or 4 inches of dirt, take them up to your yard and start detecting the piles that you make. It would be a lot of work, but could prove worth the effort if you start finding some nice old coins, tokens, etc. Dont get me wrong, the items, bottles etc. that you have found are very nice and excellent finds in their own right, but there has to be some coins down there.

Took my pinpointer down with me last time I was under there Argentium. Did find this button along with the children's jacks, old nails, etc. (no coins). Am thinking about going back down there again Trezurehunter. Don't know for how long or how detailed a search. I have to move furniture and then pull up the dining room rug. I have already placed an old rug down there to crawl on. The amount of broken glass and pottery is unbelievable. On top of that the area under the floor is only about 2 feet high. It is certainly an adventure!collageprintspah~1548600838369-3930a1b6-0c56-439a-85da-bca1ff021a16_L.webp

That's really a cool find. Amazing what can be found under a floor. The dolls head must be datable.
I remember the reconstructing of an over 200 year old water mill when i was younger. It was later used as a tavern. We founds loads of coins including silver under the floor. Coins slipped through the gaps in the timber floor.

Might be a good idea to remove the head (business end) of a rake and get down in the crawl space and rake all of the glass and ceramic pieces and shards towards the trapdoor and remove all of it. That would make it much safer and easier to navigate in such a small space and easier to get a signal from any metal objects buried or covered over down there. You should keep all of the glass and ceramic pieces removed to see if any can be reconstructed and/or if any intact pieces remain. Good luck and be safe!

Keep working that treasure trove area! :occasion14:

It'd be hard to get me to come up for air if I had a place like that. Work it, brother. I can't wait to see what you find next.
