Just thought I would share some more from my area. Some cool hixton pieces in here- the large hixton blade is paper thin. It was found on newly cleared land after it was plowed for the first time broken in half with both ends sticking up out of the ground on a 45 degree angle!!!!! The pinkish hixton piece by the copper spear I believe is paleo. Lots and lots of newer little corner notched points, couple of madison points... little bit 'o everything.

Those are some nice finds man.I have a couple points from Wisc. somewhere around here.I'll try and find them and post them for you.I have no idea what types they are but I'm sure you could tell me. HB

Hill Billy- I would love to see what you have from up here!

Country girl- I didn't find the copper spear, a friend did while metal detecting between an old school house and a creek. He didn't know that there were many burial mounds about a half mile to the north east and a maple syrup camp along that same creek. Oh... and a multi-component site about half a mile farther down the creek as well.

Now looking at the scan the "pinkish" paleo piece next to the copper spear doesn't look pink like it does in person either... :coffee2:

Very nice finds. I'm jealous of the Copper Culture artifacts yall find, sure wish we had them here.

Here you go bud, these are from up around the Dells. These are the only Wisc. artifacts I have,I've got lot's of places in Rapids that I could hunt problem is I don't live there.Next time I visit the inlaws I'd like to meet you and patina and possibly do some hunting of any kind. HB

Heck yeah- you come up to the Rapids let me know. The artifact hunting starts getting a little bit better up that way and from the Dells south but this area in between is hard to hunt. It's just one big sand blow with few resources so it didn't hold large populations through history. There is only a few places in the county that are the exception and none of them are being farmed any longer so there's really no way to hunt them. Finding one or two points is a good days hunt here, I keep plugging away at it though. I sure can take you out to some places to look. Patina and I went once last year... I gotta get him out again now.

Where's the pic of the Dells points?

Cannon, nice to see your finds. You have found some really nice stuff. Thanks for the pic.
Chuck

I'm sorry ,I was half asleep when I made that post and forgot to post the pics. Here they are.

Nice stuff Cannon.I really like the copper
Jeff

Nice frame Cannon. Translucent Hixton & green copper spices it up a bit. Very nice finds...Patina

That top piece really has my attention!!!! I have several pieces made from that material, Oolitic, big grained, often the whole thing is bright orange, used through many time periods and I can't figure out where it comes from!!! Driving me nuts, I have identified most of the lithic materials in my area but this orange type of stuff...... you don't know what it is do you?

Patina- you ready to go out bud? I'll get a hold of you this week-

Hey Cannon,
I got permission to hunt a new field today. It's across the creek from Knupp farm.
i did a quick walk though. It needs to be tilled up . The weed are really bad. I did find one small flake.
We'll have to check it out.
Devin

Across the creek... the Hoernke farm? I used to find some there to, and Richters, and that new place south of town. I'm going to have weekends off again for a short time becasue I got a new job- we'll have to hit it hard while we can.

No this is straight across. I see they also cut a ton of trees off the edge this winter. :dontknow: :walk:

You rock Cannon! Those are beyond awesome!
