Not sure for what,found at cellar hole in western Ma.,down a good 8 inches and a mill along brook on back side of area where cellar hole was.

I would say that it is a chipping hammer used for rock. It could also be a chipping hammer used for welding slag.

Agree could be used for stone,but no electricity way out where hole is,found a button and believe thats from mid to early 1800s
