I found this on a farm. It is heavy and the two pieces do move. It is approx. 6 inches long. Any ideas of what it went to or did? part of a bridle?.webp

For some reason, I think it has to do with a horse bridle.

And you would be absolutely correct. It is a part of the bridle by which sections of the leather are connected to the bit. The ends of the bit (or middle) join in the small hole of two of these, and the large ring on the other end is connected to bridle leather. It is called a jointed snaffle. The one from the other side may be nearby.
