I was g00gling something and came across this forum. A fellow named "Tojo" made mention that a glacier had come through Texas and left some trailings so I joined here hoping to find him but he's been dormant for 8 years and there is no mention of the post that I found him in originally. Specifically, I was wanting to do some panning with my children with the hopes of finding even a teeny bit of color here in central southeast Texas. Anyone heard of a glacier scraping through here? He said he found color about forty miles away from south houston. I'm stumped.

Bungyboy, at sometime in the past, I've heard of that glacier. I don't really know where to tell you to look; but give the forum members a day or two. There's a good possibility that someone will know something and reply.
I've been living in Idaho since 2007. I grew up around the Hillsboro/Waco area; born in 1942. I've been seeing some posts of people panning for, and finding some gold in Texas lately. I believe one mentioned finding some gold while panning around Glen Rose. If you search the treads here, you can probably easily find some of them.
If I get a little time during the next few days, I'll see if I can locate any info. If I do, be assured that I'll let you know what I find.

That's a really nice area. I took the kids to dinosaur valley state park a few years ago. What intrigued me the most was a human footprint stepped on by one of those giant lizard things. They scanned it and all the compression and other scientific stuff concluded that it was really stepped on by giant maneater. Back to the topic, all I could find mentioning a glacier is that it didn't come this far but it helped form the big thicket. When I was a little kid, they found a rex type dino track and fossil on the trinity river. I was about five and terrified to go in those woods by the river. There is a legend of an indian mine that is covered by white rock creek close to trinity.
