South Side of tha Saline River & Bullets Abound
Just No Mini's,,,,,,,
Hi Folks,
This is the first time I have been well enough to get
out for a while. I went down to River Road and tha
old steel bridge on tha Saline River, (no longer used)
Not far to the east is this old RR bridge that is still in
service,
I know that both the Confederate and the Union troops
camped down here somewhere. I have yet to find any
Civil War relics though. So, every time I go down there,
I hunt a different place.
For starters, I ran right into brass and bullet heaven.
I got tired of collecting brass and headed into the thickets.
Better to do it now while it is winter. I came across some
stuff here and there,
Then I dug up an old FORD hubcap,
Then I came across this strange Arkie rock,
Then I unearthed this 1956 Car plate,
In 1956 it was thought that Saline County had more
aluminum ore than any place on earth. Saline county
produced 90 percent of all aluminum processed world
wide. They were wrong however, and ran out of ore
in the 1970's. There is still some, but it is hard to get
at.
After that, I found this cool little bottle exposed on the
river bank. It seems to be a small medicine bottle,
Also, along the river bank, I found this quarts crystal
that has been smoothed by the river,
I can soak that in a acid and water solution and the
brown color will disappear.
I looked for arrow heads. But no luck.... That about
did me in for tha day.
Thanks fer l@@kin yawl,
