Hey guys! I just started metal detecting this summer with my brother Ross (rsilva02667). We have been on a real hot spot lately, he's been making a few posts about it. Well yesterday we headed back to our spot and had another epic hunt! It started out slow but then Ross dug a flying eagle cent! I had never even heard of a FE cent until now!?!

Not long after that I dug my first Spanish silver! A 1/2 reale! We knew we were right back in the honey hole! I ended up digging my first silver quarter and it ended up being a SLQ! Followed by my first silver dime, a barber dime!

I gotta thank my big brother for getting me into this hobby! And a combination of us doing some research and scouting, were ending up in some amazing sites! Ross ended up digging a large cent and a 1948 British penny after the FE. Then right before we were ready to leave he dug his first cob!

I'm posting this hunt for both of us because his phone is broken. If anyone has any info on the cob or any of the other coins it could be appreciated! We also dug a couple of nice flat buttons and a couple counterfeit lead coins. Enjoy the pics! Happy hunting everyone!

Wow, quite a set of finds.

HEY NEW MEMBER WELCOME TO TNET AND YOU HAVE SOME INTERESTING FINDS ...

Congratulations on the very productive coin finds.

Congrats on pulling all those bucket listers. :occasion14: Man you guys cleaned up today. I bet you 2 are still stoked. hope you shared some cold ones after the hunt.

Nice cob. First one from the USA I've seen posted since I got mine about a month ago. That's a dark patina on those silvers. Im guessing these were water finds? Any way you could clean the cob for a better look

Yes these are all beach finds so everything's a little beat up. I could try to clean the cob, there isn't much on it so cleaning it couldn't hurt too much. Anyway pulling this much silver from one hunt is a thrill!

Great spot you all have!!! Now lets see that gold!!!!!:occasion14:

Mine was pretty worn but there was just enough detail to date it and identify the mint location

yes these were pulled off of a salt water beach, and i think there might be some detail under there but i don't think id dare clean it. i cleaned the 2 real i dug from here and although i did get some more detail off it, i ruined the patina.

when we first started this spot and got into the good finds i said there has to be spanish silver and old gold at this site! well we've found three spanish silvers, now for some gold!

great HUnt man!

These are hunts we all dream of. I've hit some saltwater beaches this year and was surprised to see what happens to silver on them. I haven't found silver there like cobs so that's very special.

Beauty hunt. Don't know how I missed this thread but congrats! Did you try to clean anything up?! I hear cobs are often better uncleaned...

Anywho that was a great day

Steve

:laughing7::laughing7: OH Boy, You're hooked! :laughing7::laughing7: My first silver dime was a barber too, but it took me years to find my first SLQ! You're starting out with a bang my friend! Location, location, location!!!!! Congratulations and Super finds! :notworthy:

thanks man, i think I'm going to avoid cleaning things from now on! it was a shame to lose the patina on my 2 real. I'd love to get some more markings off my cob but i think I'm going to leave it alone! i love the way this little coin looks! my flying eagle cent on the other hand is soaking in olive oil. i could see it pretty good when i first dug it but its starting to fade so I'm going to soak it for at least a few weeks and see what happens.

I have another button i want to post and I'm finally seeing some detail on the counter fit coins we've been finding! one definitely says ONE CENT on the back of it and shows the wreath of a counterfeit large cent. my phones been broken to take pics of them but it should be here monday.

Just got my new phone, here's a couple better shots of the cob.
