Just to show that we have a few Spanish here in England as well. Both coins have been in my collection since 1990, that was a good year! The 8 Reales I found in Cornwall after a ripping storm one night. I didn't think it was anything other than a piece of lead until I got back in to the light - what a shock!

The 2 Escudos I think is from Bogota. This I found in an old harbour along with many coins from the 17-18th century. I think this is very high on my best coin ever found list.

Hoping someone will help with a good ID for these.

Welcome to Treasure Net !!
The coin on the right is an 8 R; from Potosi 1699.
The coin on the left is an 'escudo', not a real.
Don.....

Gold coin is a bogota 2 escudo assayer R mid to late 1600s

Thanks for that, who is the 'R' assayer?

The Bogota assayer "R" was Pedro Ramos, the principal assayer for gold cobs from the 'Maravillas', sunk in 1656; he held office from 1642 to 1676.
