Hey, beach hunters.

I live in Western Washington and have decided that I will start shallow water hunting in 2016.

I have 6 or 7 land detectors, but nothing that is submersible.

I live on an island, so saltwater is very close to me, but I can see hunting lakes as well.

So here is your chance to help me spend my money.

Is it an Excal, CZ21, or a lesser machine like an AT Pro or 1280? Something else?

I can see migrating to getting Scuba gear to continue the migration.

Keep in mind, I do not need another land detector.

Thanks

Beerguy, I'll be at the parents summer home in Roche around July 4th. Maybe I'll see you there lol.

Hands down if you plan on diving, the Excal II. I love mine. Have an AT Pro as well but save your money, not good in salty conditions at all

Thanks for the response Sal.

I see a lot of people use those, looks like a safe bet.

I will probably have to sell a few machines so I do not upset the wife, but I have a few to spare.

I can part with a Xterra 305, my XLT, and a Tesoro uMax.

eBay, here I come!

Salt water + discrimination = Minelab. Either CTX if you're just shallow water hunting, or the Excalibur if deeper than 10'. The CZ21 is not a bad choice either, but, I'd rather use an Excal myself.....and I do! :laughing7:

I have a CZ20 and love it. To be fair, I've never used another salt water machine so I cannot compare.

I used to have a cz 6a and a cz 7a pro. Loved them both. If I could find a used fisher I would have no issues with that.

CZ21...built tough and reliable.

I agree with you. I have the Excal II and 1000. Also the AtPRO. AtPRO does not cut it around saltwater. It is a great machine but not for the beach.

Ctx or excal. Ctx right out of the box plus a 10.00 oring fix or the excal moded with a straight shaft, remote pinpoint, and better headphones. If u buy either new they will come to the same price. Moded excal you will kill your warranty. I say 3030, then before the warranty expires in 3 yrs, sell it for an excal...I have both and love them equally.

jeepGold, I am not familiar with the remote pinpoint on the Excal. Explain?

Also, what is up with the headphones?

It's a toggle or push button switch hardwired to your machine and mounted to your hand grip. Myself, I hunt in pinpoint. When I hear a target I switch the toggle to discrim. If I get a double blip I dig it. If it nulls I usually walk
If it has a threshold break I'll investigate.. a couple guys on here do the mod including kellyco.

Headphones. You have options but I like gray ghost amphibians.

If you have all the land detectors you need then I would recommend the Excal. I love this detector!
