Spring tide this weekend, not much negative tides though. Moon phase is wrong. A Spring tide is when the moon and sun are in synch and rise and set at the same time. The moon affects the tides more than the sun, but the sun does affect them also, so when they are together, the pull is stronger. But full moon is best, and when that happens with a spring tide we have huge high highs and negative low lows. Peaks Saturday. West Coast of Florida might get lower than expected with the East winds.

It is Spring tide world wide. It happens about once a month. The moon is about 50 minutes slower each day in revolutions than the sun. Some areas get it stronger and some weaker of course. The real thing to search for in the tide charts are low - tides. Tides are taken from a line known as Mean Low water. This is what nav charts numbers are from, and where tides are marked from- worldwide. So a - tide is below the point that is considered normal low. The bigger the -number, the farther out the tide. Think of high tide like this, the sun and the moon have a gravitational pull and the water bulges up and follows the moon. On the opposite side of the earth, it is shallower. But you say we have 4 tides, yes there are tides when the moon is at the horizon, complicated, just watch the tide charts. In Florida most our low tides are still above this Mean Low mark. It lets you get way out and search areas that are normally too deep. Unfortunatly the lowest spring tide lows are during night time, this is not happening at this time plus a waning crescent moon, not too great.

About 3 1/2 feet of volume exchange, so the low tide period won't last quite as long. Be careful/aware if you're coming to the east coast, some increase in current out there this week.
