I've been able to detect thru the entire winter out here on Martha's Vineyard. I've pulled a few large coppers most of which are toasted, then today I pulled this odd piece. The picture is not great and i left the piece at my buddy's house so I can't re~shoot it until tomorrow. The square piece is about 1/8" thick has five dots ,a stamped crown, and a little hammer stamped on it. Is it measuring weight ??

Thanks ~ for ID'ing this object ~ I found my oldest coin , a spanish cob , from this same field here on the island. I will post anything else that's of interest. Hope this other photo posts better ??

I think it is a gambling die (as in dice.) Neat find, Breezie

Is the reverse image the same as the obverse image-- or is it blank-- or showing something else?
