st.charles bay texas .fishing and mding

Headed down to the coast next weekend.In the area of goose island and st charles bay.Does any one have any info on that giant tree next to the beach? Its on all the water proof maps as well as google earth.

If its the tree I know of, its on state park property which means no MDing

I had a weekend home there from 1988 to 1995 on goose island and the pier on goose island state park was a great place to fish for trout from about 9pm to sun rise. Get as close as you can to the highest point of the pier and use small artificial lures that glow, live bait can be used but just catch your own along the shore line with a throw net. Have your fishing license updated because I witness many people that got a fine for under size fish at that pier. I did very little metal detecting there because of the heat, I stayed inside or worked on the cabin and fished at night...
