I would go to a local historical society and look for old maps and in the legend symbols there should be one for those if the map is old enough. Township maps are good for locating stuff as well but most of them usually aren't old enough for the stagecoach stops. HH

When the US Postal Service was founded, part of the act required that Roads be build to allow the movement of mail.

Almost anywhere you will look near centers of population will have roads named " POST ROAD " those were the routes.

As civilization pushed further into these areas, these roads were use for Stage Routes.

Drive around the area you seek to work in and look for Post Roads or roads called Turnpikes

Research is half the fun

Good luck

Some of the routes for the stagecoaches don't even exist anymore they got replaced by newer roads, so you will see old maps with roads that aren't there anymore. Most really old maps of IN doesn't have road names like we have today, usually they were called what ever major town they went to with smaller towns along the way. Try and overlay a newer map to see if the road is still there or where it was. HH

It is hard finding maps from then, I found one that showed a route from roughly Jeffersonville to vensens (spelling)

Have you tried Historicmapworks?

No, is that a web site by that name?

i was talking to a old timer here in greenfield and he was telling me about the interurban lines. it was a old trolly system and people would take there horses and wagons to the stops and take the trolly to other citys and towns. im in the process of researching where the old stops where located. if anyone knows of any please post.

I've hunted one several times...just the one. It's my own private find.

They are out there, kinda found two by chance this year, no hunting on either though.
