Well I've had my new Tiger Shark out about 5 times now, I've had a little trouble in the water(makeing alot of noise) but I think I got it figured out. Had a great low tide last night & finally something other than beer tops :)

Very Nice...... and you know what, they are better than gold..(happiness to a 3yr old.)

Hey SW. Good to see that things are improving. The only concern I have is that I am not seeing anything in your finds that would indicate that your machine is set to find possible gold items. If that is by design, I understand. If not, you may want to adjust your discrimination to get that thing down to where it is finding nickels, some foil, pull tabs, small pieces of copper wire and other similar items. You have to get down to those items to know that you have a chance to find gold rings or jewelry. Your machine is comparable to my land machine Tesoro Bandido. I would set the discriminate setting down to about a 3 or 4. 5 will get nickels and many gold items but the 3 or 4 will insure that you will find most small gold items along with the other larger gold.

That falsing or noise can be reduced in the water by turning down the sensitivity on your machine which is adjusted on that Tiger inside the housing. You will not loose a ton of depth by doing this and you may have to turn it a little at a time via trial and error to get it to where it is perfect in your area. You can also control the noise better if you slow down the swing speed on your coil. Most of my water finds are reasonably shallow even with my ultra deep Infinium so don't worry too much about loosing any depth with your settings turned down some. You can do an air test at your house to see what is acceptable to you on the lower sensitivity but I believe it will pay you dividends to turn it down some.

My kids like those toys also. Those are great finds. Hope you load your pockets full of gold this year.

Good luck,

Jim

Jim, Oh I have been finding pop tabs and small bits of foil, and bread ties at 6 inches, on my first 2 hunts I was counting the beer tops, but once I hit 60 I stopped counting. I've got my disc level set at 0 for right now (I want to find everything out there) till I get a little better with it.
I can't believe how much trash I've cleaned out of the sand in the last week. My wife suggested we should get tetness shots before taking our little girl back to the beach.
At least were making it a safer place for our kids.

thanks, Jason

Good deal Jason. I thought you may have not listed them as finds. Try lowering that sensitivity for the water. You shouldn't have to lower it for the shore. Hopefully that will help that falsing noise. I have to do the same on my Infinium from time to time.

I know what you mean about the trash. I hit a high profile beach in the Panhandle where my mother lives and found it to be the trashiest beach I have ever hunted. That beach had made one of the lists of top beaches in the world recently. It is a beautiful beach above the sand but folks would be shocked at what was just 4 inches down.

Keep pluggin and don't give up on finding some good stuff. You are doing all the right stuff to make that happen. Once it does, it will come more often.

Take care and good luck!

Jim

Didn't know the Tiger Shark had a "FROG" setting. Did it come with a gigger instead of a digger? ::) Can you discriminate those out? or do you dig all frogs? ;D

Before you know it that gold will start poping up in your scoop and you'll be an old hand at beach hunting. HH

Hey, is the action figure Luke Skywalker? Seriously, those are great finds and it's only just begun!

Nice finds SWFLA, no doubt like everyone is saying in no time you will get used to knowing what the Tiger Shark is telling you and the mechanics of detecting on the beach will all come together. Good Luck!
