Hey folks!
Well, it is not a today's find , I found it couple weeks ago. But I think it deserves to be posted in this forum anyway. Rare find this brooch is, it is fo sure. This is the sterling silver thistle brooch. The clasp and stone are missing but the beauty of it is still there. It was made in Birmingham, UK, in 1926 by the company Adie&Lovekin Ltd. The stone is supposed to be a torch shape cause many items that Adie &Lovekin Ltd made had namely this shape of gem stones(last picture). I am planning to put amethyst there in the future. The beauty and quality of work make me give to this find a second life and I gave it to juweller for restauration already.
Cheers!

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

That’s awesome. I’m glad it is a salvageable piece. Congratulations. Please post a pic after the restoration.

Thanks, Buddy. I will post the pictures with its new look.

Likeable little piece! Thanks for sharing with us. Look forward to seeing its restoration.

Beautiful. A little cleaning and stones and it will be stunning.

Those are oak leaves and the missing stone is an "acorn". Nice find. Gary

Thistle leaves, and the stone would have been cut to resemble the shape of the thistle flower. Like this:

It's the emblem of Scotland and Adie & Lovekin churned out dozens of variations as brooches, badges, hair clips, tie pins and such. The Scottish thistle is traditionally purple, but A&L often used yellow stones, and I've seen red ones too.

Thank you Buddy! Yes, I figured it out that this company made their jewelry with this motiff of Scottish thistle. That is why I want to find the gemstone of the shape of torch that the company used to put in their items. It is not easy though cause this shape is quite special and hard to find. The thing is I'd like to have it similar look like it used to be in the past.

Thanks for your opinion Gary! I thought so either first but it turned out to be a thistle.
