Hey,

My first foray into the surf up to waist high. After a few minutes got a signal that took about 4 scoops to get up. Out there I though it was just a steel ring, I've seen them before, used for lock rings and stuff. Luckily I brought it home and my bride believes it may be a Sterling Silver bracelet.

I used some Tarnex on it and it lightened up a little, but I don't know how to tell if it is silver or not. Any ideas?

Thanks, Jack

Hello there, I'm guessing it's not sterling by the color but sometimes the lighting will change the color a bit when you take a pic. Nice find though. Way to go there and have a good one.

It should be stamped somewhere if it is silver.

Hi,

On the PI I have one sound fits all.

My son checked it with the ACE 250 and it showed under the penny and pull tab, not under the silver area.

I'll check for a stamp.

Thanks, Jack

Hello Jack!
My bet's brass or copper, it just has that look! :)
Be neat to fill it full of gold rings.

Jack - some silver items are not stamped. If you buy a bottle of Silver black from a jeweler ( innexpensive) you can test all pieces right away. Put a drop on the item, it will turn black. Wait till it dries and if you cannot wash it off it's silver. steve in so az

Yeap was going to suggest the same thing, however from the picture I agree with most that it doesn't look silver.

Thanks for the info on the silver black. I know what I'm going out to buy today.

I agree with the others. I don't believe it is silver. Nice find anyway.

Thanks, all you guys are great.

It dawned on me a few days after this post to stick a magnet to it and yes, it is magnetic.

Now I have to figure out how to tell if this non-magnetic earing I found has a diamond or CZ in it.

It just keeps getting more and more complicated.

Diamonds have inclusions in them, CZ's are perfectly clear (some diamonds are too, the really expensive ones) so if you can look into the stone with a jewelers loop, microscope, or magnifying glass, and see slight inperfections inside, these are inclusions and it is probably a diamond.

There are fairly inexpensive lazer diamond testers on eBay too. These are great and used my a lot of members here.

Good luck Jack!

Smiles!

Hi BDoo,

That's too funny, you know what I was doing when you posted that message? I was researching different diamond testers!!

Thanks for the info . . .
