Can’t find any info it’s marked Sterling Pat’d then I think the letter D after that. Also says the name E. G. Hines found metal detecting today and can’t find any info on the name
As invent4hir mentioned, without pics there's very little we can do to assist you in your research.
When researching items like cutlery a lot of information is gathered from the style/design, maker info, even the amount of wear that is evident adds to the background history of a piece.
I did a quick online search and found nothing on Hines or E.G. Hines.

Searching for E. G. Hines and spoon results in a few hits on eBay. There is also a lot 919 at the bottom of webpage https://www.marks4antiques.com/apa/Assorted-Silver-Serving-Pieces--22d5de described as sterling silver pierced nut spoon with a beaded handle and a medallion, and a sterling server with a tapered everted right rim. The spoon is stamped "Sterling", "E.G. Hines", ... The same set also appeared on https://www.aspireauctions.com/#!/catalog/98/548/lot/26788 where it sold for $316.25. Unable to find any info on E.G. Hines so far...
Just tidying up some blasts from the past (including some very ancient ones), largely for the benefit of anyone searching the site for information.
E.G. Hines will be a retail jeweller and, since nothing much shows up from Doctor Google, probably a small or short-lived one.
The two items on the Aspire Auctions site linked above by @invent4hir are not a ‘set’ since they’re from different makers and only one of them has the Hines mark. The pierced spoon with the ‘G. Hines’ stamp has the manufacturer mark for the J.B. & S.M. Knowles Company of Providence, RI. It’s their ‘Strasbourg’ pattern, designed by William C. Codman in 1897. It’s not a given that Knowles was the only producer for Hines though.
