Had some free time today waiting for things to dry from the rain last night, figured I'd hit the old farm site I've been going to off and on the last few weeks. Tried an area that is about 50 x 30 and an area that I've found the majority of the old coins I;ve found there. Now this is an area I've already gone over 4 or 5 times and slowly from all directions. I haven't hit it yet and not found something so until that happens I figured I'd try it again....Found an 1858 Flying Eagle and also an 1866 Shield Nickel (my first one of these). Both of these were in the same hole down about 8 inches, I got a faint signal on them and dug anyway. With my discrimantion almost off, I also found alot of 22 shells and nails. Can't believe I missed these the first 5 times I went over the area (more ammo for the theory that no place is ever hunted out)...will keep going over the area again and again....:)

Im slowly working on my wife for us to move further north so I can find some good old coins.
she hasent gave in yet.

great finds mainedigger! I have a site that I thought I had hunted all the coins out of and then I turn up an 1897 indian head about 3 feet away from where I got an 1853 large cent. I coulda swore I had scanned this area but tried again and there it was. Also I am getting further into the brush so maybe that is why i did not find it at first.

Anyway, congrats and keep at it.

Another flying eagle...before this week I had never even heard of such a thing...now i have seen three! Nice!

Gem....I may soak them a little bit in peroxide or distilled water, both have fairly good detail and aren;t corroded too bad so won;t need a heavy cleaning.

holy cow,,,, great finds........ ;D ;D ;D

Excellent stuff right there! ;)

stunning coins!!! congratulations! I am going back to some previous sites and turn down the discrimination! Good lesson we learned today eh Maine?

Satelite....thanks, and I had already turned down the discrimination the previous couple times hitting that area, important lesson yes, but think I had just outright missed these, which I;ve done before and will again....which is the important lesson....keep hitting the hot spots again and again...:)

Mona, there's a call coming from back behind the stage curtain... "Mooooona, time to put your faaaace back onnnn..."
