Interesting. If it's made from carved stone that could be a Native American game piece.
 

some were not carved, but put in a hole with water running over the stone causing the stone to turn and become round
when you have nothing but time on your hands, you can accomplish a lot.
 

The Bennington is a historic marble. The old clay marbles are older than Benningtons.
All are very nice, very collectible.

I have found a number of old clay marbles in the field while searching for relics.

it looks like an early historic clay marble.
This is what I say, as we found several like this in Charleston SC digging around old houses..

Not sure, I found an article online that mentioned a S.E Dyke Co. In Akron Ohio that at one point would produce a million clay marbles a day! They put them in barrels to ship, sold for 5 for a penny.
