✅ SOLVED Strange glass covered star

My friend found this and was wondering what it is. He thought a pin of some sort, but it seems like it would be to heavy. Maybe someone has seen something similar. It was found in a mining town in Colorado. It's about the size of a silver dollar and about 1/2" thick. It's purple glass with a silver sunburst under. Maybe it had a picture at one time? I should have taken a picture of the side, it looks like a metal bezal holding the glass. Let me know what you all think. Happy hunting!!
