Belted ball for a Brunswick rifle, very cool innovation in firearms for the day

Almost looks to uniform to be hand carved. But I could be wrong. Will be interesting to know. Nice find

Assuming it is lead; just my wild imagination, but my first thought was a musket ball that had been placed in a smaller round bullet mold and the user trying to crush it and then giving up on it and tossing the musketball off to the side.
