I found this in an area were a new road is being built and I picked up a few interesting rocks. rock 001.webprock 002.webprock 003.webprock 004.webprock 005.webprock 006.webprock 007.webprock 009.webpDark brown & smooth on one side and like scales on the other. 1 1/8" by 3/4" .

Well that's definitely interesting.

Possibly some tar like they melt for roofing jobs.

I was under the assumption that they were found with the detector, yes?

There was a big pile of dirt removed from the ditch and piled up about 5 feet high and block long . I detected all the area and barb wire and a few old cans. A few broken bottles and I was looking for anything looking like a meteorite.
This rock was an eyeball find.
I did get one that gave tone and is attracted to a magnet and is just an iron rock .

This rock shown looks like a hot piece of lava fell on a reptile.
