Found this wheat penny today, going through a Bunch of wheats i bought recently.
about 11,000 to be somewhere close.
I noticed a halo behind lincolns head on the obverse,
and when you turn it over there is a outline of lincoln on the reverse.
kind of a ghost like image.Very hard to get a picture of....
i have no idea,if it raises the value or not.
Please feel free to reply,if you know anything of this!
Thanks,......Well back to looking at pennies!

sometimes it's better to post coins in the coin section forum (homepage scroll to middle of page) on tnet ... You'll get a more accrucate answer from someone on there...

Cool find, I don't anything about it. I can see the ghost image.

Could have been a thin or faulty planchet. :icon_scratch: I dunno!?

either way it is a fault and could be worth something, nice find!

I just found a similar one. I found out that it is called a die clash error.

Definition: A die clash error happens when the coin dies come together in the coining press without a planchet between them. This causes an imprint of each die to be left on the opposing die face. For example, an impression of the obverse die is left on the reverse die, and vice versa. Although the Mint usually makes an effort to clean up these marks, they are sometimes visible on the coins themselves.
Also Known As: clashed die error

Here is the 1917 I found (in pocket change).

I think I will say that what you are seeing is irregular tone on the coin and not so much a die error. Original bank wraped rolls, coins stacked up and stored away for years touching the coin beside it. Kind of a ghost of Lincoln.

Maybe this is a sign from Abe himself :tard: VPR

I see it; that's pretty neat. I don't know if I'd believe that that was a mint error though. I'd love showing that to people and hang on to it. Nice eye and neat coin!
