Been a long time since I have posted due to a crazy work schedule and just no time for detecting. I braved the 110 degree heat index today and spent a couple hours searching for a colonial site that I didn't find. But I did luck out and find a small CW camp that doesn't look like it has been detected before. I dug several crusty buttons including a NC Sunburst button, a two piece Flaming Bomb over Cannons button, a small two piece cuff button with very little guilt remaining, and a silver washed flat button that really had me thinking that I had dug an early US silver coin.

My favorite find of the day is the carved lead pencil. Also dug a round ball, small brass finial of some sort and maybe a percussion cap but not sure about that. Dug some glass in the recovery of a couple of targets that makes me think I need to do some more digging when the weather gets cool again.

Sweet Discovery! Congrats on the great finds.

Lovely recoveries. 110 Heat index!?! Damn, you needed your therapy pretty bad. That spot has potential. Lock it into your memory bank and get back there when things cool down a bit.

Lucky you to find that camp. Hopefully whenever you go out there when the leaves are down you'll still find your Colonial spot. Nice collection of relics already I'm a bit jealous I currently don't have any spots that are new much less virgin. I wish you the best of luck digging please keep posting your results

Great hunt! Congratulations on a new site, and some sweet finds!

Well done on the buttons and the lead stylus. In the heat like that any recovery is good and the site deserves a return visit for sure. Glass and square nails makes for more permeant structure over a camp one would think.

Thanks everyone. I will definitely be exploring this area again when it cools down. I agree Pepperj, that this camp is in close proximity of the colonial site that I was searching for. This would likely explain why they chose the site for a camp.

Hey great finds. I wish I had spots like that out on the west coast in Oregon!

Nice finds congratulations
