I dug this little item this morning and don't have a clue what it could be. Note that there is an engraved anchor symbol on the right side. That same engraving shows up on the other side. Any ideas are appreciated.

It's a bosun's whistle that was used on ships. My Mom had one that she had when she was in the Navy during the 1940's.

Yupl, Boatswain's (pronounced Bos'n) pipe. It looks like a really old one, mine is sterling silver and looks like this one.
