So my buddy dug this up and we have no idea. It appears to be layers of leather with square nails used to hold everything together. It is flat on one side and rounded on the other. We were thinking a boot heel.

Yeah looks like a boot heal to me as well.

You happen to find that near a fence post; just asking because we used to put our old boots on the post at our ranches and many other ranchers did the same. Found few old heals in my day, even have a cousin who is a heal.
