Stupid Question before I go out and try

Does the beach in the tidal zone freeze between low and high tides? I'm in Maine and I got this winter itch. I started last summer detecting but never tried the beach, but everywhere else is definitely frozen now.

I'm on Long Island (NY) my buddy is still hunting below the tide line and we've got ice chunks 8" thick on the beach so it's still huntable if you can bear the winds and temps

Good Info, I?m thinking if I detect behind a retreating tide it will work. Not worried about the cold as long as the sun is out. I can go ice fishing on the gray days. Free2Dtect? Is that Clod or Cod?

You could combine a fishing story with a treasure story. "I caught a fish this big, filled with gold coins".
