Would be nice. But, rumor has it, it is too much work - even though "they" said it would be done.

Sub forums are locked while admins check to see if there is a way to make it where a post in sub forum would also appear in main forum at same time without reposting it, if not possible then sub forums will be deleted, and goodbye thread locked.

someone requested those subforums.
Not sure Why they never used them After .But I'm sure if We remove Them, They will want them again :tongue3:

There is no way for me to post in them. All I see are a hand full of threads from 2013. I second the request for removal, if that matters.

OK I wasn't aware they were Dead Sub-Forums

I'm looking into this now.

I'm looking into this now.

As I recall, the biggest concern from Mod=Treasure_Hunter was that the posts that are in those forums would either disappear or would have to be manually moved to the general forum one-by-one if the subs were deleted.

Good luck... I have never been able to understand how the forums are categorized. Multiple requests from multiple members regarding thrift stores/garage sales/ebay forums, etc have gone ignored.

Coin forums was reported to admins, it is their decision if it is removed. Since no one is posting in them not sure what the issue is.

As far as the thrift store/garage sales/ebay, it wasn't ignored, it was discussed and decided they will remain their own sub forums and we advised members of such...

TN Mods: is there a way for us to remove some of our OWN posts after its been on the forum for some time, or that we feel that it's no longer pertinent?

We prefer the posts/threads remain, there are newbies signing up daily and many can benefit from the old posts/threads

no ! and I'm against that.
though you may feel it is no longer pertinent. Someone else may Disagree.
and will enjoy weighing in a year or more Later.

Add to that, if you start a Thread and 60 posts later You delete your post from the beginning
and someone reads it after, They will think Huh ? What are they talking about ?
and if you are allowed to delete the whole thread, 60 People may wonder why their posts were Deleted.

" Holes " in conversations is another reason. once someone replies,
the thread becomes confusing if what they are replying to is gone.

So no. as I said. I wouldn't support that 8-)

You're right mods; wasn't thinking about the after POSTS comments. I stand corrected. Sorry

You mean all those posts I wrote where I was wrong have to stay here in infamy?!?!? ...I WANT A RECOUNT!! :laughing7:

Out of curiosity, just how long does someone have time-wise to be able to remove one of their own posts?

I doubt that there is a limitation on deleting your own posts. I just deleted one of my first posts from 2012.

As stated we do not like members deleting posts for no reason other than being old, it leaves holes in threads. If we see a member doing a mass delete for no reason we may take action to stop it.

yes leave your old posts too.
I have Banned members to stop them from Being able to delete their Posts

While I can understand the desire to keep old posts in place, I hope you will also understand the occasional desire of someone to delete an old post, for a legitimate reason, of course. For someone to come out and say they want ALL of their old posts removed - well, that's not likely. But people learn over time and ways of thinking sometimes change, as do who we associate with. Like right now, I think Jeff (PA) is a pretty cool guy. Will I still think that next year? Probably, but just making a point here. :tongue3:

Yes, all the posts together make up a thread, and each thread is its own story. Remove one or more posts and you potentially remove chapters from the story. At the same time, some folks share some slightly personal things about themselves here from time to time - and I'm one of those people. If I suddenly started getting some nut job harassing me and I think they tracked me down using info I've posted, I would want to delete or, at the very least, amend the info to remove clues and such.

So while I can understand the desire to keep posts in place, I hope you'll still allow for exceptions when necessary.

I had a post that was made not too long ago where I actually asked folks to please not quote me, as I wished to remove some of the more personal info after a few days. I was a little surprised (pleasantly), but everyone allowed that possibility and, a few days later, I deleted some info with a notation. However, the majority of the post remained as it was still a relevant part of the story.
