Sunday's CW campsite hunt....ID help needed

Went south this weekend and was able to get a short two hour hunt in at a Union campsite that I discovered many years ago. I decided to concentrate on one particular area that is at the crest of a small heavily wooded ridge. Since I have pounded this area so hard in the past and my last two times hunting this area produced no finds, I decided to go hardcore at it. This consisted of cutting through briars and literally crawling through Mtn Laurel and Rhododendron. The results to me were worth it... a sabre belt plate hook, a 69 cal. round ball, an eagle button, and from a deep 10" down, a brass plate that I need help identifying. I can't find anything quite like it in any of my reference books. I am guessing it may be a decorative plate off of a locker or chest. HH everybody!

I've found a couple of those myself. What you have is part of an shoulder scale, or epaulet.
