From my readings of this newspaper article, I see where some of the "quotes" are from Col Edward Bacon's Among The Cotton Thieves, this memoir of Col Bacon's 6th MI Infantry is well worth reading.

Sounds like I need to form a expedition to the mouth of the amite. Thats really weird knowing that I have probably passed over the wreck hundreds of times playing on the lake. Crazy...
