Sunray DX-1 Probe Losing Depth

Hello,

I have been experiencing reduced depth with my Sunray DX-1 for my DFX. My DFX is doing fine but the probe seems to be on the fritz. Currently I can only detect a coin at 2" or less with it. I used to be able to get coins at up to 4" or so.

Does anyone know what the typical causes of this problem are and how to solve it?

Just a quick guess that you may have already considered - your probe responds to the sensitivity setting on the detector which MAY be more noticeable on the probe compared to the coil on the detector if the sensitivity is reduced. This is true for the discrimination setting as well. You might try it with the sensitivity at or near max with little or no discrimination set and see how it responds.
