Has anyone having problems with falsing on the X1 probe? I have one on my e-trac and everytime I go to use it it starts falsing after a couple of minutes. Just moving the chord will set it off. I was thinking maybe a short but the chord seems fine any hints or suggestions. Thanks, Charlie

P.S. Do you know of anyone that repairs them?

Charlie usual problem is probe cable or cable from box to detector.

Your probe cable may look fine, but internally it's got a problem. There's 4 thin wires inside the cable(transmit, receive, 2 grounds). At least one of them is starting to lose contact.

I have two X1 probes that started falsing. Both had tweaked wires. Over time, the falsing will get worse, making the probe unusable. If it's out of warranty, repairs will be expensive ($100). Sunray(the creators) will repair/replace their own probes. One feature I wish the probe had was a user replaceable cable. :protest:

Thanks for the replys guys. I sent an e-mail to Ralph from Sunray this morning and sent him my warranty info and hopefully he gets back to me on Monday. I did a lot of researching this morning on the forums and it seems the Probes have a falsing problem near the end of two years, luckly I bought mine on 5/6/2009

I'm sure your probe is out of warranty then. As far as I can remember, the X1 probes only have a 12 month warranty. Expect to shell out around $100 to have yours fixed. Wish I had better news for you. :'(

If that's the case I may get this one fixed, sell it then go to the Garrett Probe. If these things break down nearly every two years then all I'm doing is keeping Sunray in business with an inferior product. it's great when it works but shelling out $100.00 and not counting your time and postage, I don't think so. Thanks Dan for the info. Charlie

Hey Charlie just wondering if you made a call to sunray yet? I just bought mine last spring hoping for the price to get more time out of it then 2 years. Let me know how you make out. :hello:
