Sure...I'll take a couple of them.

OK.... not a really exciting post really. The only thing that makes it special to me is that I hadnt yet nailed two silvers in a day.

I got two quarters yesterday hunting sidewalk easements which I'm new to. I found that in the town I'm hunting that I am well within my rights to do so... so I went. Sat I made a quick hunt with an Eisenhower to show for it. Sun I got up and decided to put a few more hours in. I had been into my hunt about 45 mins and hit the '35. 70 yards later I hit the '52. After filling my hole and dressing up the plug nicely, I started texting a buddy who shoots some too with my find update.

Then this woman from a half a block away and across the street comes up asking "Sir, did you lose something?"

"No, Ma'am, Im looking for silver coins." She looked at me dumbfounded. I produced the '52 and showed her.

"Well, what do you think people feel about you digging in their yards?"

"Well, Ma,am, I'm hunting the easements. From the property owners side of the sidewalk to the street is the property of the City of XXXXX. I dont step foot in the yards." I said with a smile.

"Hmmmm." she says. "Well, we are being careful here since the arsonists burned the church." Which, in fact, was part of a rash of church burnings in the area. I agreed lamenting the the actions of the men who did it.

She walks off..... I chalked it up to just another busy body. Hopefully a kind word turned away wrath. I've decided that if I continue this that I must be a good ambassador of the hobby and not be defensive or rude.... even if I feel that I am faced with people on the offensive.

anyway... on to the pic. Thanks for looking!

Silver is always good my friend! Some people are just scared of the unknown. I always bring an extra detector with me when I go. I offer it to the people to hunt with me. A lot of times their kids want to do it, and I get a new yard by giving them a lesson. They never really find anything decent because they are new, but they do have a blast. That is one way that I get more properties in my portfolio. :icon_thumleft:

Good on the silver, and I think you handled the lady properly also

Well done on both aspect. Most people don't know that the strip there is city property, but naturally they don't want to take care of it so they legislate that the property owner has to go out and do it. I learned that from the zoning dept of the city when I was first checking into it. He said that legally I could dig, but he wouldn't recommend doing it in a strip that was well taken care of with green grass, flowers, etc. I think I had already figured that out. Never have had a problem, but have had a couple of invitations into the yard.
