Sword piece?

Found one of these a month ago but never got around to posting. Found another one today and I just want to be sure it is what we think. My grandpa says they were a piece to the sword or sword scabbard. They were both found in civil war sites. Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like part of a radiator core to me. Maybe a an old Ford tractor.
