thanks pbk. i looked at the site and found that the wilcox tag,s are common. but i will email this guy to see what he has to say. now it makes me want to dive into my box's of old find again and clean every one of my tags and other stuff that i cant read yetPBK said:Great find, Jon! It's from the Louisville, St. Louis & Texas Railroad. RR tags can be worth serious cash... some of the Western ones are worth hundreds apiece.
There's a collector on eBay looking for items from this RR right now:

I would also definitely write to this guy, probably the #1 tags collectors, for his offer:
Jack Lucas, P.O. Box 391, Moraga, CA 94556. E-mail: bj620@aol.com
"Wilcox" is the mfgr. of the tag, W. W. Wilcox of Chicago, one of the major RR tag makers:

ok pbk, i guess i need to look over the site a bit morePBK said:jon43 said:i looked at the site and found that the wilcox tags are common.
Whoa, there! "W. W. Wilcox" is probably the most common tag maker mark, all right, but that doesn't mean the tag itself is a common one For example, there are Denver & Rio Grande Railroad tags made by Wilcox that are worth $350-500+.
