Where did you find it in the ballfield? Bleachers, field? Just curious! Looks like some of my "heart attack" rings. I have a little collection of those! Nice find though. Keep em coming.
This playfield has 3 baseball diamonds. All three are about 10 feet below the regular terrain. this creates a natural bleachers where they dug out rows and put in cinder blocks as permanent seating. That's great because there's about 4-inch grass behind the blocks so people sitting there can lose things without it being noticed.
When I saw that setup, I knew it should be "mined" quickly before the kids get out of school and descend on the place. I found the ring at the end of one of the rows where natural stairs go up like an aisle in a stadium. It was adjacent to 3rd base in the middle diamond. I figured a mommy got all excited as her kid rounded 3rd heading for home and oops! -- off came the ring.
I also found quite a few coins and 6 quarters, so it was evident that the place hadn't been MD'd much if at all. It was my first time there. And I found a nice professional trowel with wooden handle in a dugout. I think it belonged to the guy who'd been mowing earlier. I left it alone.
So I go into the bar and the first guy who spots the ring says, "Hey man, yer wearin' a girl's ring. Wadda ya doin' wearin' a girl's ring?" I said, "You don't understand -- I found this metal detecting. I gotta wear it once. It's a rule."
Now, with the gals, it was different. They just said, "Oooh, can I try it on?" Then one said, "Can I have it?" With a sly wink I said, "We could open up discussion on that subject." So she said, "Never mind, I don't want it that bad."
I won't have to have it appraised. That proved the diamonds aren't real.
