Modern Miner and I took full advantage of the beautiful weather yesterday (70 and sunny) and headed back out to "the 1800's" property to hit some new spots we have not hit before. I pulled what looks to be a carved "cleaner" bullet from the field along with lots of iron before moving to the other side of the property. That's where things got interesting. Lots of old brass pieces (many "whatsits") and signals everywhere BUT it desperately needs some brush-hoggin'. Pulled a thick piece of brass (bronze maybe?) that looks like it was a bracket of some sort - has a design of dots/lines on both sides. My favorite piece though, is the "Shield" - it is 2"x1.5" and made of brass. At first, it looks like it could have been a manufacturer's badge for an old bike or motorcycle but it's too wide for the bike. I'll post more pics after cleanup. Any info or ideas on the shield or "bracket" is greatly appreciated.

Looks like a crusaders shield!!!,,,nice bunch of relics.,,, :headbang:,,,,Hey can I join the "Team Tesoro"??,,,,

Nice bullet. I do not know what the shield is but it is a neat find.
Dman

Nice digs Andy. I don't know what the shield thing is but I like it!! Somebody on Tnet will know. HH, Quindy.

Andy,
I love that shield you lucky S@B! If it were made of nickel rather than brass, would it be a shield nickel? :icon_scratch: :laughing9: Great find. No idea on that Williams Cleaner. :dontknow: It's smaller than normal and missing all signs of the rings that used to go around the sides. I think carved, because I could see what looked like knife cuts along it.
Show it to Quindy in April so he can see it in person. Strange bullet. Possible game piece? :dontknow:

Hopefully someone can ID that badge.

You did well on your maiden voyage with the new Silver Umax.
You kicked my butt.

Here were my measly finds for the day.

Modern Miner... That little buckle is stunning. I love those ornate buckles from that era!

DD Those are some interesting finds. That bullet sure does remind me of perhaps a game piece... The badge is really cool... Looks like it could be off a foreign motorcycle.

Colonial ear plug possibly? :dontknow: :tongue3:
Duh.

Thanks to all for the responses. Really hoping to get an i.d. on the shield - I must have looked at over 3000 pics of motorcycle, bicycle and tractor emblems/badges and not one hit. Showed it to my Dad and he seems to think it was some type of old military hat badge. Still open to ideas... :icon_thumright:

Here's a few more pics of the "cleaner" and shield after some gentle cleaning...
