I plan to buy second metal detector. My alternatives are Discovery TF-900, Whites TM-808 or Whites Sierra Madre. :)
But can these detectors separate metals? I mean is object ferrous or non-ferrous?

If not, is there detector that can separate metals, detect deeply buried object and not very expensive?

Landis, none of the "super deep" all-metal detectors discriminate, such as do coin and jewelry detectors. The whole purpose of these "cache" or "hoard" hunting detectors is to merely find DEEP metal, whatever it's kind. To discriminate would be to loose potential treasures. How so? What if an IRON pot is filled with GOLD coins? The discriminating detector would reject such a pot, if set to reject iron. MY favorite deep-seeker is the Sierra Madre fitted with the 15" coil. You'd be amazed at the stuff this combination has recovered, especially in Mexico. Hope this helps; HH Jim

Yes, i suppose that.
I guess, that Sierra Madre detector can't discriminate metals, and detect also small objects, like nails. Anyway, i don't find store that sell Sierra Madre to europe and Finland.
So i buy TF-900 detector, because that automatic reject all small objects.
