Thanksgiving Day Fossil Find

I spent Thanksgiving in Miami having a big family get-together at one of the hotels here. The hotel is on the beach, and I took my six year old daughter and her five year old cousin for a walk on the beach to collect shells. While we were walking I noticed something rolling around on the bottom in knee deep water. I fished it out, and I believe its a piece of fossilized coral - it is about 4 inches long, and is very heavy for its size:

in my opinion it is a piece of dead coral (but not fossilized). maybe some others here will have some better information for you.
