A couple weeks ago I had to give up on a promising signal due to the ground being frozen solid. I went back to the spot a couple times, but it was still frozen. Finally, I went back there today and discovered the ground had finally thawed out. The sound the target produced was very strange, but the target crosshairs were in the silver area of the Smartfind screen and it was reading about 9 inches deep. A few minutes of digging produced a wheat penny. But there was still a signal in the hole. After a couple more scoops, I could see the outline of a large silver coin. It was a Walker. Still another signal in the hole turned out to be a Buffalo Nickel. These 3 coins had laid side by side in that hole for quite a few years, as evidenced by the green circles etched on the Walker.

The Walker is a 1917-S, with the S on reverse.

Here's the Buffalo Nickel and Wheatie that was in the hole:

No date on the Buffalo and I think the Wheatie is a 1910.

I also found a 1939 Jefferson Nickel and 3 other wheaties from the forties in the area, which are not in very good shape.

Nice big silver!
Here in Luzerne county, the ground is still pretty well frozen too, but I've been able to find some diggable spots.
Got pretty cold out last night again, but it should get up to 40 today. Hopefully I can dig this afternoon.

Again, nice finds.

Congrats!
