Is anybody out there regularly finding gold chains, especially thin ones? I suspect that there's a huge quantity of them lost, since the wearer won't feel it going.

These things are really hard to detect with the usual equipment and settings (I'm thinking of low frequency (below 10kHz) detectors and discrimination settings anything above iron). I've never found one - and using a couple of very thin chains as test targets, my Tesoro Compadre, Compass GSP and Tesoro Diablo micromax all detect them, but I think they's be pretty hard to find amongst foil, tabs, etc.

Who has found them and how?

Re: The Chain Gang

Found a VERY THIN neck chain with a very small charm in dry at the beach the other
day. I was useing my SD2200d with 11" dd. Depth was only around 8"; sounded like
a pull tab. Also you posted a thread about Dankowski dueing tests; can you repost
his url so i can get back to it I seem to have lost track of where it was at. Thanks!

No I have never found a thin gold chain with my detector, but luckily I had my eyes open and found one laying on top of the ground. I tried to detect it with my detector all stretched out and all coiled up in a ball and tried all the coin, jewelery, relic, gold, and silver programs and none of them would pick it up in an air test. Good figure???
