The First Sov--Question ???

Relic Hunter.......use your volume to control audio level....threshhold sound is set at a level so you can just hear it...too high of a threshhold and you will miss weak signals....

Have Fun.....Rdi

Added: use the headphone volume, to control audio level

I could use some help with a Soverign Elite, if someone has some experience with the machine. It actually belongs to a buddy of mine who's never had any real luck using it. I've played around with it a bit myself, but what kind of tones or display numbers should I be looking for? Maybe some hints on it's use?

I've done some air testing with it, and thought I knew what I should be looking for, but I ran through a park with my XLT and got a good silver hit at about 7 inches, and when I ran the Sov over it, it gave off a completely different tone and display that I would have dug using only the Sov. It turned out to be a silver Rosie.

af1733.....here is web address, you can get a manual for sovereign elite ..it's at the bottom of the page...check out page 5 of the manual....sorry I can't be of more help...but I'm sure someone that own's one will help you out...

You want to set your volume up pretty loud and then control it with your headphones to make it comfortable. As was said by RDI, you want your threshold barely audible so that you can tell the subtle changes. That is where you will hear the deep stuff. Too loud on the threshold and you have a harder time on hearing those subtle tones. Don't get the volume control confused with the threshold. I turn my volume as loud as I can stand it and then control it somewhat with the headphones to make it more comfortable. Then I set my Threshold by turning it completely silent and then adjusting it back very slowly until I can just get a hint of a steady tone.

Good luck!

Jim
