well two rare events occured at almost the same time -- one was due to alltel (my internet provider) selling out to windsteam * my new provider they said I "needed " to set up a "new " windstream account and my old "e mail " account from alltel would be transfered over to my new "windstream" account automatically -- so I called em and told em to do it * at almost that exact second in time my computer decided to go haywire --totally nuts --causing a total 100% crash loss of all stored items *on it / had to restore from ground 0 ---good thing I had back up stuff in my e mail files --except that I found out that when windstream had set up my "new account" that they failed to link my old e mails from my "alltel" to it and that they had totally wiped my "old" alltel e mail account account completely --all past e mails were wiped totally out of existance with no hope of any recovery --- thus massive amounts of data / research/ contacts were lost -- all of which I thought were safely stored in two very differant spots-- both of whichwere wiped out by this freak of nature event.---god I am pissed off --esp since when I called "windstream" they said ---well sir, all you had to do was do nothing and on march 15th your account and all your past e mails would have auttomatically switched over to your new "e mail" address !!! (then why in gods name --did they say I had to set up a "new" $%^^&&$#@ account in the first place #%^&^$@ dolts .) makes me want to use their eyes for ping pong balls.

I feel your pain.. being in the IT field forever... never trust the "man".. ;-) I stored everything on a raid and then a secondary drive on top of that AND burn DVDs too..you can never be too paranoid!! It's off topic here.. but if you want to PM me.. let me know what email client you were using etc.. there is always a chance of getting it back..other wise.. I can help you set up a simple raid and backup that will prevent this form happening again.. good luck!!!
