You did find a good one that has almost all of the story. The gold of the dead miners was buried at the site which Pete wanted to return years later for. There was also a trail which lead to a small excavation where they dug the dirt for sluicing. Chief Mountain is in the Glacier Country section and within sight of Glacier Park if I remember correctly. I got it covered in my book. Supposedly Pete died trying to return to dig the gold cache up to help his son.
