Took advantage of a good weather day and went out detecting for a few hours. Things started off pretty slow with some lead, a wheatie, and a couple of nickels.

About two hours in to the hunt I hit on a nice signal that turned out to be a large copper. First of the new season!

After some gentle picking a few details started to show through. The obverse has a bust facing right. The reverse has...not much of anything. The coin weighs 87 grams, and measures about 30 mm in diameter. I'm guessing this is either a William iii or a William and Mary half penny. Other opinions are always welcome.

Thanks for taking a look. Best of luck to everyone in 2021!
